The press-connect joining method (sometimes called press-fit) was patented in Europe in the late 1950s and continues to be used successfully there. The method and associated fittings and tools were introduced in the United States in the late 1990s. Since then, there has been growing acceptance, and those using the method experience excellent results.

Press-connect joining takes advantage of copper or copper alloy"s excellent malleability and its proven increased strength when cold worked. The joints rely on the sealing capability of a special fitting that contains an elastomeric gasket or seal (such as EPDM) and the proper use of an approved pressing tool and jaws.

1.Check the pipe for surface damage and contamination! The pipe lengths determined by measuring tools.

2.Separation of the pipes. Always cut to length at a right angle!

3.Deburring the pipes. In order to avoid damaging the sealing elements when pushing on the press fittings,   after cutting to length, the pipe ends must be carefully deburred and cleaned on the inside and outside.

4.Inspection of the pipes and fitting:

A, the pipes must be cut off at right angles, deburred and round.

B, checking of the functionality and visual inspection of the O-rings in the fitting.

C, check pipe and fittings for foreign bodies (dirt, burrs ect.) clean this off, if necessary.

5.Making of the insertion depth on the pipe.

6.Insertion of the pipes into the press fittings. Slide the pipe in while turning slightly and pressing in an axial direction at the same time up to the marked insertion depth.

7.Pressing. It must be ensured that pressing machines in a proper condition and regular maintenance is performed according to the specifications of the pressing machine manufacturers.
